Lindholm - A historical residence addition

 In this historical renovation project, preserving the original architectural charm was paramount while meeting the clients' need for additional space. Our approach focused on seamlessly integrating new elements with the existing style, ensuring minimal visual disruption. Careful attention was paid to incorporating subtle details that denote the original structure for historical significance, while maintaining an overall appearance of harmony and continuity.

A modern attached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) or granny flat is being planned for the existing single-story house situated atop a canyon. What sets this project apart and adds an element of excitement is the decision to build down instead of up. This is a conscious effort to maintain scale within the neighborhood. As well as take advantage of the canyon views

This North Park project involved the transformation of a modest one-story Craftsman-style house into a Modern/Mission style home while preserving its original charm. We expanded the structure both forward and backward, adding a second story only to the new additions. The central portion of the house, which is the original structure, remains a single story, maintaining the integrity and character of the initial design.

One of our design goals was to harmonize Modern and Mission-style elements, reflecting the couple's preferences for both styles. From the exterior, the home appears to be new construction, seamlessly blending the new additions with the original structure. However, upon entering, the historical essence of the original Craftsman house is evident, offering a unique blend of old and new. The result is a harmonious compromise between modern and Mission styles, creating a living space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
